I’m yet to meet a small business owner who benefitted from Small Business Department Ministry!
When will the government learn to appoint business people with experience to run government ministries and parastatals? The reason government is not making inroads across the board with service delivery is that people with no experience are in charge of key ministries.
For instance, take Small Business Department they now have a new head running the ministry, that person is Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams. Stella is the former minister of Communications and Postal Services, yes she’s the same person who failed to run and make the department of Communications efficient.
Stella never ran a business in her life and I did think she knows the difference between a ledger and a balance sheet. Now she’s been trusted by President Cyril Ramaphosa to run the small business ministry to help small and medium enterprises.
I don’t think she will achieve anything in this ministry, these people don’t know what they’re doing. It is clear, that they just drawing salaries and ticking boxes until their term in office comes to an end and they moved and join another ministry.
Sadly, the people who run businesses don’t get any shred of help from the government’s small business ministry. I can wait for the day government ran out of money because they don’t know what they’re doing with, sadly.
