Barcelona and Spotify signs Shirts and Stadium Sponsorship deal

Barcelona Football Club have signed a shirt and stadium sponsorship deal with audio streaming platform Spotify, the La Ligations side announced on Tuesday. This move comes after months of speculation that the deal was on the table waiting to be signed by both parties.

Starting from July 1st, the brand will appear on the front of the men’s and women’s team shirts for four seasons from the 2022/23 campaign.

The streaming service is the first brand to sponsor the club’s stadium, that will now be named Spotify Camp Nou.

In a statement the club said, “The vision for the partnership is to create a new platform to help artists interact with FC Barcelona’s global community of fans. This partnership will allow us to continue to bring the club closer to its fans and make them feel even more part of the Barca family through unique experiences, combining the two activities such as entertainment and football, making it possible for us to connect with new audiences around the world.”

The financial details of the deal are yet to be revealed, but according to Catalan radio station Rac1, the agreement is worth 280 million euros ($306 million).

Alex Norstrom, chief freemium business officer at Spotify said: “From July our collaboration will offer a global stage to artists, players and fans at the newly-branded Spotify Camp Nou.”

Japanese retailer Rakuten has sponsored the men’s team since 2017 while toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker became the official shirt sponsor of the women’s team in 2018.
