Mobile Operator, MTN increases Prices for its Contact Packages

South African mobile operator MTN increases prices which will come into effect from the beginning of May 2022.

The mobile network says it’s becoming impossible to absorb the current and every growing inflation.

MTN SA chief consumer officer Mapula Bodibe said, “We have tried to keep the price increases to a minimum in a bid to provide our customers with quality telecommunications services as cost-effectively as possible.”

“The tariffs will be an average increase of 5%, which is in line with inflation and comparable to the market,” she adds.

According to Bodibe, the company hasn’t adjusted their prices for the past two years following economic challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“On the other hand, we have made substantial investments into our network to ensure our customers enjoy world-class connectivity,” she said.

The company said its contract customers and users are aware of the upcoming increases, depending on the customer’s billing cycle.
