Standard Bank Group Chairman announces his Retirement

The Standard Bank Group and Standard Bank South Africa board chairman Thulani Gcabashe announced his retirement from the bank. His retirement will come to an end in May. 

In a statement, the bank said, “The boards wish to express deep appreciation to Thulani for his exemplary leadership, stewardship and dedication to the Standard Bank Group during his tenure and wish him all the success in his future endeavours.” 

According to the bank, Mr Gcabashe’s retirement will conclude with the finalisation of the companies’ annual general meetings which will be held in May this year. 

The banking group said, the process to appoint Mr Gcabashe’s successor is currently underway and an announcement in this regard will be made soon. 

Before joining the bank Gcabashe was the former chief executive officer of South African energy provider Eskom.
