Amazon Marketplace is coming to South Africa While the company has been cutting costs and jobs around the world, plans to open up their market place in South Africa are moving along swiftly.
Amazon web services has had a presence in Cape Town for over a decade, however, rumours about Amazon Marketplace launching here have always been just that – rumours. Documents have been leaked showing that Amazon has secured warehouse space in #SouthAfrica.
The document states that their #CapeTown warehouse will be at 13 Freedom Way in Montague Gardens and the #Johannesburg distribution centre will be in Eastport Logistics Park, Kempton Park. Discussions have been had with local courier companies to deliver Amazon’s online goods to customers.
Also, Amazon is currently advertising dozens of local managerial employment positions specific to the marketplace business and not web services. Amazon has not announced its official plans to launch their marketplace in SA yet. For now, it’s an open secret.
