To celebrate 30 years of democracy in South Africa, Brand Africa and Brand South Africa orchestrated a gathering of 30 distinguished brand builders. These individuals have contributed significantly to the creation of iconic brands and impactful campaigns, both before and after the democratic transition.

Facilitated by Brand Africa founder and chair, Thebe Ikalafeng, this session took place during the 2024 Brand Africa 100 event, serving as a platform to reflect on the nation’s journey through branding and marketing excellence.

  • DStv commands admiration as the premier media brand in South Africa.
  • Woolworths, Nike, and the World Health Organization (WHO) are hailed as the leading brands championing societal, environmental, and humanitarian causes in South Africa.
  • Maxhosa emerges as the epitome of African ingenuity and creativity in South Africa.
  • Noteworthy icons like Kruger National Park, Soweto, and Cape Town, among others, are celebrated among the 30 entities that have significantly influenced South Africa’s brand over the past three decades.
