MultiChoice has announced price increases for its Showmax Entertainment plans that will kick in on 1 August 2024. The streamer standard plan will increase by 11% from R89 to R99 per month, while the mobile plan will increase by 15% from R39 to R45 per month. All other prices remain unchanged, MultiChoice stated.
Good news for English football die hard fans, the mobile-only Showmax Premier League service remains at R69 per month. Showmax’s combined packages that include the Premier League subscription and an Entertainment plan will also not increase.
“As a lifelong football fanatic, I can’t tell you how excited I am for the return of the greatest football league in the world,” said Showmax CEO Marc Jury.
Jury said pricing is something all businesses must review regularly. “We launched with attractive pricing on the new Showmax platform,” he adds.
“We are thrilled that we’ve been able to keep Showmax Premier League and bundled Showmax plans unchanged, bringing all 380 Premier League matches to millions of football fans in Africa and continuing to focus on making streaming affordable and effortless.”
