Apple Music replaces Pepsi as the official sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime extravaganza

As the saying goes cash is King, it serves the King at all times. Apple Inc and the National Football League [NFL] announced that Apple Music is now the official sponsor of Super Bowl halftime, the new deal will start on 12 February 2023.

Both Apple and NFL have signed a multiyear sponsorship deal to oust Pepsi from the picture. The soft drink has been part of the Super Bowl halftime show for almost eight years, since 2013.

It makes sense for a tech platform like Apple to sign such a deal with NFL because they’re in the content business. it also gives Apple leverage to sell ads while showcasing such content on their streaming service Apple TV+.

Apple is also positioning itself as a major player in the sporting arena, they recently signed broadcasting rights to stream some of Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer.

Earlier this year we saw Apple Music competitor, Spotify sign a deal with Barcelona Football Club as a technical sponsor and naming the club’s home ground stadia into Spotify Stadium.
