WhatsApp finally gives users what they have been asking for years now. The instant chat app announced it will introduce a set of new features that will give users more control and be able to exit groups when they feel like it without the whole town knowing what just happen.
The company tweeted some of the new features:
“Leave groups silently is a new feature that will only notify the admin when you leave a group chat. That means you can decide when to make a quiet exit—without everyone knowing”
“There are two more privacy features rolling out soon:
1. Online presence puts you in control of who can and can’t see when you’re online.
2. Screenshot blocking for view once means your photos and videos will be protected from screenshots.”
WhatsApp will also introduce the view-once feature that allows the user to upload images and videos that can only be viewed once by the receiver, after which point, the media will disappear automatically after the recipient has seen it.
With the proposed changes, Whatsapp could introduce a feature that will make sure that the sender’s view-once media cannot be taken a screenshot of, even when opened.
WhatsApp is yet to announce when will the new feature be available in South Africa and the rest of the world, but hopefully soon.
