Microsoft has announced job cuts across its divisions worldwide. The company couldn’t disclose how many staff members will be affected by the job cuts. According to an unnamed reliable source the company will let go of 1000 people.
The tech giant follows a number of tech companies who decided to cut jobs and freeze hiring given the current sluggish and high-inflation economy.
“Like all companies, we evaluate our business priorities on a regular basis and make structural adjustments accordingly. We will continue to invest in our business and hire in key growth areas in the year ahead,” Microsoft said in a statement.
Last week we saw web-survey portal SurveyMonkey’s parent company Momentive Global lay off 11% of their workforce.
“In an 8-K filed on October 13, we announced plans to reduce our headcount by 11%. We are undertaking this difficult change as part of a strategic shift as we streamline our focus and align our resources to our top priorities,” said Hillary Wilson, senior communications manager at Momentive Global.
More layoffs and job cuts are expected at Meta platforms as the company decided to freeze hiring.
