Metro FM news presenter has died yesterday while sleeping at her home in Waterfall, Johannesburg, confirmed family spokesperson Khehla Tshabalala.
“Our daughter was a celebrated radio broadcaster and TV presenter. Her presence will forever live on in our hearts,” the family added in a statement.
Shongwe’s employer the public broadcaster (SABC) has sent words of comfort to the late’s family.
“The SABC has learned through the family of Pearl Shongwe that she has sadly passed away. The SABC extends its heartfelt condolences to the Shongwe Family. #RIPPearlShongwe”
Shongwe’s broadcasting career started at YFM in 2010, later she moved and joined SABC as a sports presenter.
EFF passed their condolences to Shongwe’s family through through a tweet:
