Twenty20 cricket franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed a three-year main sponsorship agreement with Qatar Airways that sees the airline take up the Indian Premier League (IPL) team’s primary front-of-shirt inventory.
- Deal is reportedly worth I₹75 crore (US$9.15 million) over three years
- Qatar Airways also launching RCB fan engagement campaigns, including prize giveaways
- Elsewhere, the Delhi Capitals and DP World have signed a multi-year back-of-shirt and training kit sponsorship deal
If the reported fee is accurate, Qatar Airways’ deal to replace Muthoot FinCorp as RCB’s main sponsor is the second largest ever for an IPL team. The new season, which gets underway on the 31st March, looks set to break records in terms of sponsorship revenue, with the Economic Times of India recently reporting that franchises could each pocket between I₹75 100 and I₹75120 crore (US$12.2).
