Chelsea announces Jason Gannon as new CEO, he replace Chris Jurasek

Chris Jurasek has stepped down as chief executive of English soccer giants Chelsea after only 15 months. Jurasek joined the Premier League club in May 2023 from Clearlake Capital, the private equity firm which co-owns the Blues.

According to The Telegraph, he had become unpopular among sections of staff and supporters due to various changes, including cutting travel subsidiaries for away fans.

Jurasek will reportedly remain available to give advice but will no longer hold a permanent position at Chelsea. The Telegraph adds that it was likely Jurasek would move on from the club within a two-year timeframe once a business leadership team had been put in place.

Jason Gannon has been announced as Jurasek’s replacement as Chelsea’s new president and chief operating officer, having previously worked solely as the club’s chief operating officer.

“I am incredibly proud to have led this historic football club into its next chapter,” said Jurasek. “We have accomplished the task of building a team both on and off the pitch that means the club is well-positioned for long-term success.

“I have complete confidence in Jason and the executive leadership team that was built and am thankful to have played a part in its establishment.”

“I am honoured to assume this elevated position within a club so rich in history and well-renowned across the globe,” said Gannon.

“I have developed relationships with many supporters over the past year since joining Chelsea, and it is an enormous privilege to be here.”

The appointed of Gannon is one of several upcoming senior leadership changes at Stamford Bridge.
