Standard Bank one of the world’s ‘best companies’ says Time Magazine

Standard Bank Group has received kudos from two renowned American magazines for its performance and culture, it announced in a media statement on Tuesday.

TIME Magazine recognised South Africa’s largest bank by assets as one of its world’s best companies, while it was named as one of Newsweek’s world’s most trustworthy companies.

“These accolades from two iconic global news magazines demonstrate that our determined focus on delivering excellent services for our clients in, across and beyond Africa is being recognised worldwide,” says Sim Tshabalala, group chief executive.

Time Magazine’s world’s best companies, now in its second iteration, analyses the top-performing companies across the world. The study is based on fifteen criteria, such as employee satisfaction, revenue growth, and environmental, social responsibility, and corporate governance (ESG) principles.

Newsweek’s World’s most trustworthy companies, conducted in collaboration with global research firm Statista, reviewed businesses across 23 industries spanning 20 countries. The survey considered all publicly listed companies with a revenue of over $500 million (more than R8 billion) headquartered in 20 countries.
