Tiger Woods’s TGL secures Best Buy founding partnership

Tech-infused golf league TGL, which is operated by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports venture, has announced Best Buy as its third founding partner.

  • BestBuy’s founding partnership includes national ad spots, in-competition integrations, stadium activations and digital and social media content
  • Electronics retailer also named as the league’s official retail technology partner

TGL will involve six teams of four golfers competing in short-form matches. The league will be based in a tech-powered purpose-built facility in Florida, and has secured a domestic broadcast deal with ESPN, which has promised to show all events live on its linear channels in primetime slots.

Best Buy becomes the series’ third founding partner, joining Genesis and Businessolver and SoFi, which is TGL’s presenting partner and venue naming rights partner.

“As our third founding partner, Best Buy showcases how TGL is attracting both new and traditional sponsors to its modern approach to golf,” said Jason Langwell, chief revenue officer at TMRW Sports. “And with its fast-paced, prime time matches on ESPN, we aim to attract a wide spectrum of both traditional golf fans, as well as broader sports fans who relate to TGL’s team elements.”

TGL will aim to expand its roster of sponsors ahead of the start of its inaugural season on 7th January.
