On the 100th anniversary of the television, global home appliance leader Hisense held its 2025 product launch event in Dar es Salaam, unveiling its most advanced product in the Tanzanian market: the 116-inch RGB MiniLEDTV 116UX. Alongside this launch, Hisense also presented the latest developments in its global smart home ecosystem, underlining the brand’s strength in innovation and its commitment to delivering next-generation digital living experiences.
The 116UX is the world’s first large-screen TV equipped with an RGB MiniLED backlight system. Powered by Hisense’s self-developed Hi-View Engine X chip, it features cutting-edge AI-powered image processing, advanced light and color coordination, and substantial improvements in color reproduction, contrast, and energy efficiency, redefining the premium TV experience.
“Our product breakthroughs stem from long-term technological investment and relentless innovation,” said Ou Yang, President of Hisense International Marketing (Middle East & Africa). “We are committed to bringing immersive, intelligent, and sustainable digital lifestyles to African households, supporting the region’s digital transformation.”

Hisense has set an ambitious goal to become the leading home appliance brand in the Middle East and Africa by 2027, supported by five strategic pillars: multi-brand collaboration, high-end product leadership, smart infrastructure development, market localization, and brand influence enhancement.
Since entering the South African market in 1996, Hisense has steadily expanded its footprint in the region, establishing a manufacturing base in South Africa and opening its first regional R&D center in Dubai in 2024. These moves allow the company to tailor its innovations to local consumer needs and support sustainable regional growth.
According to global research firm Omdia, Hisense ranked No. 1 globally in large-screen TV shipments in 2024, a reflection of its growing competitiveness and influence in the global premium segment.
Also showcased at the event was ConnectLife, Hisense’s proprietary smart home platform. Through seamless AI and IoT integration, the platform connects a wide range of smart appliances, enabling voice control and intelligent scene coordination—offering African families a more efficient, connected, and sustainable lifestyle.
“This launch represents more than just new products—it reflects Hisense’s deep commitment to the African continent,” said Liu Wei, Vice President of Hisense Middle East & Africa and General Manager of Hisense South Africa. “Our philosophy is to grow with the local community—making great products with care for customers, managing with care for our people, and contributing with care to society.”
The 116UX is also a model of sustainable innovation, delivering ultra-high definition and brightness while improving energy efficiency by approximately 20% compared to traditional high-end models. The TV has been certified by Pantone and Dolby Vision, demonstrating Hisense’s commitment to both performance and environmental responsibility.
As Africa undergoes rapid digital adoption and lifestyle upgrades, Hisense is accelerating the global rise of “smart manufacturing from China.” The 116UX represents the success of Hisense’s forward-looking development strategy and highlights the brand’s active role in shaping the future of high-quality, innovation-driven growth.
