If you’re looking for a microphone to either do some podcasting, record music, play games, or simply video chat, then you might be interested to learn that Razer has actually announced a new microphone in the form of the Razer Seiren Mini, which is essentially a smaller version of the company’s Seiren microphone.
In terms of design, it doesn’t look anything like the larger Seiren, but according to Razer, they claim that despite its diminutive size, the Seiren Mini is capable of “punching above its weight”. It features a supercardioid pickup pattern that will focus mostly on what’s in front of it, so it makes it ideal for vocals if you don’t want any background sounds to be picked up by the microphone.
The microphone also features USB connectivity which means that users won’t have to deal with audio interfaces and XLR cables. There is also a built-in shock mount that should help deal with vibrations. We haven’t tested it out for ourselves yet so we can’t speak to the microphone’s quality, but given that it is priced at $50, which is half the price of the Razer Seiren X, it makes it a steal for anyone who wants a microphone that’s better than the ones built into their laptops or webcams.
