Telegram Reach 1 Billion Downloads Worldwide

Instant messaging chat app Telegram has reached 1 billion download globally, this is according to Sensor Tower. The WhatsApp competitor has officially joined the elite club of tech startups to reach such a milestone.

The chat app is crushing it and dominating in India as the most favourite instant messaging app and is followed by WhatsApp. Earlier this year the company raised over $1 billion to invest in the expansion of the organisation.

The Dubai based company was launched in 2013 and at the moment is the world’s second-largest internet market represents approximately 22% of its lifetime installs, according to Sensor Tower.

Telegram has been enjoying a steady increase following the controversial privacy policies by its rival WhatsApp. Sensor Tower reports other apps that are growing on the list includes WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Spotify and Netflix.
