Transform Your Private Space into a Welcome Place!
In 2020, there were a lot of singles spending time alone at home. Dating apps had unprecedented sign-ups and virtual dating became a thing everyone did, not just people in long-distance relationships. Social distance was the only distance. Our homes became our private sanctuary with the sole purpose of making us feel comfortable in a stressful world.
It’s now 2021, and even though 2021 feels like 2020 part-two, the reality is that we’re slowly getting back to some level of normalcy and some level of in-person connectedness again. As you find yourself surrounded with more people, it also means you’re more likely to invite someone special back to your house. It’s time to change your private space into a welcoming place. A place so inviting they can’t wait to come back.
You need to update your place. The truth is this has been an issue for many men since long before 2020. TV, movies, and bro-culture has made men believe the wrong ideas about what their home should look like.
There are three key components to remember when getting your home prepared for inviting someone over — senses, stories, and personalization. Make it enticing with each of the five senses, have stories to tell, and of course make the place a personal reflection of you. When it comes to personalization, what you choose to put around your house should rep your style in a classy way. The stories behind why you chose something, your knowledge about it, or your experience makes a visit to your place more interesting. When it comes to your senses, everything here looks classy, it’s just a matter of tantalizing the other senses as well.
Diffusers
Everyone’s place has a smell. Everyone. You might not recognize it in your own place, because you’ve become nose blind to it, but you always notice it at someone else’s place. When that front door opens and someone walks in, before they see anything the scent will hit them. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad smell, but it’s different. You want it to be pleasant. Different is only acceptable if it’s pleasant. First, get yourself a diffuser. You can get a plug-in or one with reeds sticking out, but the former is lazy and the latter (unless it really fits your personality) looks like you ripped a page out of a home decor magazine for ideas. This is your place, not a magazine.
