Bolt, e-hailing Ride Service to Sign up 200.00 New Drivers in Africa

There’s still a growing demand for transport in some parts of the African continent, the west side to be exact.

According to Bolt, the Estonian mobility tech firm countries like Nigeria and Ghana there’s an appetite for public transport.

The company is planning to onboard an additional 200.000 drivers in the African continent this year, as the demand for transport continues increasing.

Bolt’s Africa regional director, Paddy Partridge said, “One of the challenges we have with our growth at the moment is that on the ride-hailing side, the demand for our services is growing faster than we’re able to onboard drivers, particularly in West and Southern Africa.”

“We’re just not able to continue keeping up with that growth because drivers are not able to access vehicles at an affordable rate,” said Partridge.

The e-hailing ride service has a nice problem at their disposal and they’re doing whatever they can to meet the demand.

Speaking TechCrunch, Partridge added, “We are having to find ways to attract as many drivers as we can, like make their earnings potential as good as possible so that we can bring people (drivers) onto our platform…to solve this issue around access to cars.”

To date, the platform has 700.000 drivers servicing 40 million riders in seven African major cities.
