Sony officially launches its Revamp PlayStation Plus, a 3-tier Subscription service

Entertainment giant Sony has finally launched its revamped PlayStation Plus gaming subscription service.

Sony is getting serious about up its game and competing with the likes of Microsoft’s Xbox Game subscription service. The company has bundled the current subscription services, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now into one.

The new subscription service will come in three tiers to cater to and accommodate the different market segments, which include PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium.

In a statement, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said, “The new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PlayStation Plus.”

Ryan went further to say, “With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart.”

“We’re working closely with our imaginative developers from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners to include some of the best gaming experiences available with a library that will be regularly refreshed. More details to come on the games we’ll have on our new PlayStation Plus service,” adds Ryan.

PlayStation Plus will roll out this coming winter, June starting in Asia pacific before heading to North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The company is yet to release more information about the exact dates in other regions.
