Tech giant Apple has hired Desi Ujkashevic, Ford’s global director of safety engineering to head up the company’s electric vehicle project plans.
After many delays to kick start their EV project… by bringing Ford former executive, Apple is making its intention clear that it’s serious about playing in the EV space.
Bloomberg reports Ujkashevic could help Apple navigate regulatory hurdles the company faces in testing self-driving prototypes on public roads. Her expertise in engineering and safety protocol can also help guide Apple in its project.
According to Ujkashevic LinkedIn profile, she served in several roles since joining Ford 31 years ago, including developing EVs, vehicle exteriors and interiors and chassis components.
At Ford, she has been responsible for all current and future program safety strategies (including autonomous vehicles), corporate rule-making, advanced strategy development, field service actions and program safety compliance, read Ford’s website.
