The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced their financial standing has improved.
According to the organisation, their books have shown an increase from US$7.6 billion, up from US$5.7 billion in the previous Olympiad.
The IOC’s The Olympic Partner (TOP) worldwide sponsorship programme brought in US$835.6 million in revenue for 2021. Television broadcasting rights pulled in US$3.1 billion.
IOC president Thomas Bach said, “Looking ahead, we can address both the immediate and the long-term future from a position of strength. In such uncertain times, navigating the Olympic Movement into this strong position was by no means a foregone conclusion.”
“This was only possible because of what we achieved with our Olympic Agenda 2020 reforms and what is already taking shape with our Olympic Agenda 2020+5. The huge success of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 also contributed greatly to this.”
