Twitter partners with Shopify to bring merchants to the platform

Twitter want Twitterati to start shopping on the platform. The social media platform has announced a new partnership with Shopify. As part of the deal, Twitter will launch a sales channel app that will be available to Shopify’s U.S merchants for now.

According to the social media platform, merchants will be able to onboard their products through Twitter’s Shopping Manager, where sellers can able to access product catalogue tools.

“Reaching potential customers where they are is critical to the success of Shopify merchants,” said Amir Kabbara, Director of Product at Shopify, reads the statement.

“Twitter is where conversations happen, and the connection between conversations and commerce is vital. Our partnership with Twitter, and the launch of the Twitter sales channel, will let merchants seamlessly bring commerce to the conversations they’re already having on the platform,” Kabbara added.

How does it work?

A. After linking their Shopify and Twitter accounts, merchants can use the new app to sync their product catalogues to Twitter.

B. As their Shopify catalogue changes, those will be synced to Twitter’s Shopping Manager, as well.

C. Showcase products via Twitter’s Shop Spotlight, giving shoppers the ability to check out on the merchant’s website.

The new developments follow Twitter’s launch of ‘Product Drop’, a new shopping feature to tease and remind customers to shop.
