Capitec Bank’s online banking platforms still offline and customers are very annoyed

Capitec Bank customers still can’t access their banking services due to persisting outage. Its been almost 24 hours since the bank is experiencing the problem. 

The bank’s app, online banking and USSD service for customers without smartphones have been offline since Thursday morning. 

Some customers took to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their frustrations about the outage. 

Some customers Tweeted: “You guys have been hacked, your so-called central servers have been compromised, a modern bank experiencing infrastructure problems is unheard of at this day and age, unless you’ve been Hacked”

“Nooo what this bank is doing to us is wrong, I have been waiting for my payment to clock in even today nothing, even if I use *120*3279# still no money, my kids are not going to school today because of you, I have to buy groceries too. I curse the day”

The bank in a short statement says is doing its utmost best to resolve the outage problem, for now, only card payments and ATMs remain unaffected by the outage.

“Capitec Bank is still experiencing an infrastructure problem in the central servers that support our banking channels. We realise this is a terrible experience for our clients and apologise for the inconvenience. We are absolutely committed to resolving this as soon as possible and have a team of technology experts correcting the problem. Clients can continue to make use of card payments and ATMs. We will keep you updated with developments.”

Capitec Bank is the latest bank to experience the outage in the past two months after Standard Bank.
