KickOff Magazine to end its Print publication and Goes online

In the last few years, we saw many print magazine folds while some went digital to move with the times. Recently KickOff magazine announced that it will stop its print publication and move to digital.

The much-loved soccer magazine said its 28 years run print will come to an end this September. Mzansi soccer fans can still consume the content online as it is becoming tougher to run a print publication in the digital world.

“While we close the chapter on our print publication, our digital platform will remain and our journalists around the country will keep you up to date with the latest breaking news, transfer stories and match reports,” says KickOff editor, Zola Doda.

According to the publication, the wring was on the way for the magazine to go digital, it was just a matter of when.

KickOff general manager Clint Roper said, “It’s obviously hugely disappointing to say goodbye to KickOff as a print offering, but the potential for the brand to really explode digitally is exciting. With this year’s World Cup around the corner, we hope to see a surge in online advertising around our incredible content and will endeavour to keep KickOff at the front of the pack when it comes to soccer news in South Africa.”

“We thank our readers and advertisers who have remained loyal to the magazine. We hope you all follow us to the digital world of KickOff,” adds Roper.

Now the magazine will compete with new soccer kids on the block, the likes of Far Post, Diski Times and Laduma.
