Music streaming service Deezer to launch Zen, a medication app 

Meditation and yoga is no longer foreign idea its part of pop culture and people’s wellness. As the pressures of life increase, people need space and time to meditate. 

A music streaming service Deezer is currently testing a well-being app called Zen by Deezer. 

The announcement about the new app was made by Deezer CEO Jeronimo Folgueira while giving the company’s financial year results. He added, “We expect this to be a very profitable cross-sell opportunity.”

According to the company, the app will feature content around music and sounds, guided yoga, breathing exercises, meditation and inspiration. The app is already available on iOS while the Android version is still in development. 

The meditation app will compete with the likes of Calm, and Headspace Health which are dominating the space at the moment. 

Those who like to use the Zen app have to wait a little longer, is “currently being tested with small user groups to prepare for a launch in early 2023”. 

Deezer’s earnings results published (Aug. 24) revealed a loss of 300,000 subscribers in the first half of the year, with a 2.9% year-over-year decline in total subscribers from 9.7 million to 9.4 million at the end of the year. June. 

The decline came as the 10.7% increase in subscriber base in France offset an 18% decline in subscriber numbers in the rest of the world, according to Deezer’s publication.
