Apple hike prices for Apple Store purchases across Europe, Asia and Egypt

Apple announced a price increase for apps and in-app purchases on the App Store in several countries across Europe, Asia and some parts.

The affected countries are Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam, and all territories that use the euro currency.

The new prices, excluding auto-renewable subscriptions, will be effective as early as Oct. 5, said the tech giant.

According to Reuters, a rapid rise in inflation, interest rates and energy prices, this year has hammered the yen, the euro and most emerging economy currencies. The euro has dropped to two-decade lows this year and has been languishing around parity against the dollar for weeks.

The publication reports that Apple is growing its services business in an attempt to diversify its income revenue streams and reduce dependency on its mainstay smartphones.

TechCrunch reports, that in August 2021, Apple increased the in-app purchase price for users in South Africa, the UK, and all regions using Euro. This is the second year running that Apple increases prices in the Euro-Zone and some parts of Africa.
