Streaming service giant Amazon and the National Basketball Association [NBA] announced a multi-year partnership deal which will see live games broadcast on Amazon Prime Video in Brazil for the 2022/23 season.
As part of the deal, the streamer will showcase 87 live matches on Prime Video and coverage will be available in Portuguese.
NBA fans in Brazil will see four weekly NBA games on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the season, as well as up to 24 playoff fixtures and a range of original NBA programming.
“We are incredibly excited to expand our relationship with the NBA and give Brazilian basketball fans access to live NBA games and other exciting NBA content,” said Marie Donoghue, sports video vice president at Amazon Global Sports.
“This NBA content will bolster our already substantial global slate of sports content available on Prime Video.”
Speaking about the partnership deal for both brands, Rafael Elia, vice president of Latin America global media distribution at the NBA said, “We are thrilled to work with Prime Video and build on our longstanding commitment of delivering NBA games and content to fans in Brazil on the devices and platforms they use most.
“We are always looking for innovative ways to diversify our distribution and provide fans with more best-in-class options to experience the excitement of the NBA”.
