Hi Everyone!
It is around this time that people begin to feel the toll of year wearing down on them as they try and end off the year strong. 2022 has been the year of recovery post-Covid and for me personally a year of much change and growth. In 2022 we’ve had the Ukraine Russia conflict escalate, we’ve had the Kwa-Zulu Natal floods, the retirement of the queen of tennis (Serena Williams), as well as the Democratic Republic of Congo being welcomed into the East Africa community.
It. Is. A. Lot.
So it is no wonder that year may feel heavier than most. Here are a few ideas that may help you push through to the end of the year.
- Plan some sort of celebration. Firstly, you deserve to let your hair down, but also having something to look forward to always keeps the engine going in times of strain.
- Create a weekly list of things that you want to finish before the year is up and try to knock them off one week at a time.
- Start a routine for rewarding yourself with connecting with old friends. As the year winds down, many old friends close by may appreciate a get together just to shoot the breeze.
- Put in leave. If at all possible, ensure that your days are locked and loaded and avoid the last minute rush.
- Get ahead of January commitments. If there are any obligations or expenses due in January that you can sort out now, do it! It will bring much needed relief at a later stage.
Lastly – set a light exercise regime between now and the festive to get your body energized and semi-holiday fit. When you are more fit, you can enjoy the rest and relaxation that you will so highly deserve over December.
