The South African football powerhouse Kaizer Chiefs football team is on the verge of launching a fully-fledged women’s team. As the saying goes, rather be late for the party than not show up.
Jessica Motaung, Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director in her open letter to the club’s fans mentioned that the club will launch a female sports team, however, she didn’t go into more details.
“For Kaizer Chiefs, 2023 will be a landmark year for us as we prepare to launch our first fully-fledged women’s team, something we are extremely excited about and really looking forward to.”
Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are South African biggest football clubs without female teams, thank God the situation is going to change with Amakhosi coming into the party.
At the moment female football is dominated by Mamelodi Sundowns, hopefully, soon both the Chiefs and Pirates will give Sundowns female team a run for their money.
Motaung also mentioned that the club is about to launch a new technical sponsor Kappa, this comes after Amakhosi’s contract with Nike came to an end.
Kaizer Chiefs’ marketing director paid tribute to football GOAT Pele, who passed away last week after a long battle with cancer.
“On a sad note, we close the year 2022 by saying goodbye to the king of the beautiful game and a world-renowned football icon, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pele,” said Ms Motaung.
“Pele gave his life to football and football also gave him life. We thank him for his immense contribution to the game and may his soul rest in peace.”
