Newzroom Afrika partner with Mzansi Wethu to launch Nguni news bulletins

Newzroom Afrika is expanding its reach by launching a Nguni news bulletins Izindaba Zethu|Indaba Zethu channel in partnership with Mzansi Wethu (DStv Channel 163) Monday-Sunday at 7pm from 27 February 2023.

“This new addition simultaneously sees the growth of Newzroom Afrika into a new language space and allows a provision of news that is reliable and relevant, accurate and fair, in languages understood by more than 50% of people in our country”, read the company’s press statement.

It adds, “media plays an important role in building an informed society. Citizens need credible information that can skilfully moderate debate and provoke meaningful conversations in their own languages – leading transformation in Africa.”

Hopefully the move will add a pull of jobs in journalism as the majority of news reporters lost their jobs because of covid-19.

According to Multichoice’s DStv, “the daily news will be anchored by experienced journalists and broadcasters familiar to viewers in isiZulu and isiXhosa.”

To be honest nothing is new here, this is just another way for DStv to leverage its brand to make more money by selling ads during the new bulletins.
