The old guards are leaving the SABC radio station to explore new opportunities somewhere else in the city of Johannesburg that includes Mo-G and Mo Flava.
Mix 93.8, the leading community radio station in Midrand, Johannesburg announced the launch of its new drive show, The Mix Drive With Mo G which airs weekdays between 4-7pm.
“Mo G, the host of the show, brings his authentic, fun, informative, and entertaining style to the airwaves, with a fast-paced program that covers topical issues such as mental health, captains of industry, comedy, and talking cars. Mo G will be joined by an A-team of co-hosts, including Lauri, Tlou, and Toni, who will bring their own unique perspectives to the show,” the press statement reads.
“We are excited to add The Mix Drive With Mo G to our already impressive line-up,” said Sanele Mlotana, program manager of Mix 93.8. “Mo G and his team will provide a fresh and engaging voice to our listeners, and we can’t wait for them to hear what we have in store.”
Mo joins Mix FM after a fallout with Metro FM. Before joining Metro FM, Mo-G was the host of Kaya Central, an afternoon show on Kaya FM.
“Our new tailor-made space in Waterfall City is the perfect location for us to continue building lifelong chemistry and friendships while expanding our on-air output. We are excited to join a multi-national, inclusive, and collaborative community,” said Kudzayi Tiribabi, station manager of Mix 93.8.
Elsewhere, Mo Flava has parted ways with Metro FM after being with the station for the past 8 years.
Talking about his departure from the station Mo Flava said, “The time has come for me to move on and explore other opportunities. I have spent eight amazing years at Metro FM and I appreciate the opportunity I was given to do top-level radio and touch lives. The Metro FM listeners have a special place in my heart.”
“I am looking forward to exploring new opportunities I have lined up in radio where I will continue to express my talent. I am also excited about TV opportunities on the horizon. I’ll also continue to help young people who want to get into radio broadcasting through radio demo workshops” he adds.
This week will be the last week you hear Mo Flava on Metro FM. Some rumours say Mo Flava will be replaced by DJ Sabby and Comedian SKhumba Hlophe while Flava is off to join Primedia’s 947 however, the jury is still out.
