On the new venture, she’s joined by Caroline Currier, who serves as president of the company. Currier will also be responsible for the daily operations of the 926 Productions.

“I have long admired Serena not only as one of the greatest athletes of all time, but also as a cultural icon,” said Currier, who produced Kevin Hart’s Netflix limited series “True Story.”

“She is a once-in-a-generation talent who transcends sport, and her commitment to excellence on and off the court is inspiring. As we bring our creative instincts together, I am thrilled to partner with Serena and build out a company that centers on championing impactful and entertaining stories yet to be told.”

The idea to start the production company follows the success the Oscar-nominated film “King Richard,” which Serena and her sister Venus Williams executive produced.
