Today’s message is all about not staying where you are tolerated, but going where you are celebrated!
As some of you would have seen, I hosted my very first HAPPINESS workshop over the weekend in Johannesburg. I had spent the last few weeks prepping the content, which means I spent a lot of time focusing on the lessons I was going to teach.
There are so many aspects of the HAPPINESS workshop that I could share with you, but today this one stands out above all the others.
Too often, we put ourselves in a position, where we spend time with people, who at best, tolerate who we are. This leads to us having to justify the very essence of ourselves to them, and this process is completely exhausting!
I can tell you from personal experience, I have quirky tendencies. I’m wired differently, and I think differently. But here’s the thing, I have my own flavour, and I’ve made peace with the fact that it’s not to everyone’s liking. My mentality is that I would rather go where I’m celebrated, and that thinking has worked really well for me.
So I hope this hits home for you too. The balance is that you should be working on yourself constantly, and always trying to become a better version of yourself. But through that process, you still won’t get everyone to like you, and that’s ok.
I’ll say it again. Don’t stay where you are tolerated. Go where you are celebrated. When this clicks for you, a whole new life will be waiting for you.
One last thing. We often grow up with people who used to celebrate us, and then we outgrow each other. This is also ok. This is just how life works. Sometimes people are only meant to be around for a season. Other times, people will grow with you, and that will be a beautiful thing too!
