In a public letter to the head of the space agency on Monday, the Blue Origin founder offered to waive up to $2 billion in costs in exchange for a contract to build a lunar lander that would send astronauts to the moon.
If selected, Blue Origin would waive any payments for the next two fiscal years and fund a test of NASA’s lunar-descent module.
In April, NASA selected Elon Musk’s SpaceX over Blue Origin for a sole contract worth $2.89 billion to build the next crewed mission to the lunar surface.
