Capitec Bank on Monday announced that its clients can now get 2% cash back on their purchases at Dis-Chem and Baby City, when they pay with their Capitec debit or credit card.
Capitec estimates that these new cash-back benefits can collectively save its clients over R25 million per year at Dis-Chem and Baby City.
Mzansi most loved bank, Capitec said the Live Better Savings Account is a new feature that is made available to all Capitec clients at no cost to encourage savings in SA.
The Live Better Savings account differs from typical savings plans because clients don’t transfer or deposit money into it. Instead, it grows automatically through cash-back benefits and a tool that the bank has included in it, allowing its customers to round up their spending when they pay at tills so that the difference is automatically transferred into the savings account.
“Our goal is to grow a strong savings culture in South Africa,” said Capitec’s executive of marketing and communications, Francois Viviers.
“Since launching the Live Better Savings Account two months ago, our clients have collectively saved more than R30 million through these automatic savings tools,” added Viviers.
Capitec does not call its cash-back benefits a rewards or loyalty programme per se. It calls it Live Better Benefits. But the bank now also offers discounts on car rentals, educational courses, doctor vouchers linked to a handful of service providers, including Travelstart and GetSmarter.
But the bank doesn’t charge its customers anything to become part of Live Better, and it said the benefits are the same for everyone, regardless of their income or status.
