Instagram will start asking its users to their birthday with the platform., if they haven’t done so yet. The social media giant announced from now on it will start popping up notifications to add your bday in order personalise your experience.
According to the company the move is a part of Instagram’s goal to create new safety features aimed at younger users. Insiders reports, the company want to use the data as it plans to launch new platform (IG) version aimed at kids under the age of 13.
Instagram reports the new birthday pop-up notifications will begin to appear this week on the mobile app and will continue with the roll out over the coming weeks to reach and access more users.
The company follows YouTube, Google and TikTok as they have already announced changes to how teenagers can use and consume their services and how they can be targeted by ads and other promotional campaigns.
