TikTok removed 81 Million Videos for Violating its Terms and Conditions

TikTok removed 81 million videos for violating its community guidelines and terms of service on its platform between April 1 and June 30, 2021. This is part of the short video platform cleaning and getting its house in order. According to TikTok an average of 90 million videos posted or uploaded a each day. 

In July this year, the company introduced a new technology that automatically removes content that includes harmful content, adult nudity, sexual activities, violent and graphic content and illegal activities. 

TikTok said, the most common reason for content to be removed, encompassing 41.3% of removed videos, was for violation of minor safety guidelines. The platform said that 94.1% of all removed content was identified and taken down before a user reported it.

The platform removed 27,518 videos due to COVID-19 misinformation in Q2. TikTok says that 83% of these videos were removed before they were reported by users.
