Amazon Inc is closing its physical retail stores. The e-commerce giant doesn’t see any future going forward with brick and mortar stores. Some of the affected stores are located across the U.S and United Kingdom (UK).
This includes Amazon Books and pops up stores, the company wants to focus on cashier-less grocery stores and Amazon Style, the recently launched new concept store in LA that uses (AI) Artificial Intelligence.
Another reason the company is closing its retail store is because of unionisation of their workforce, where workers demand better living wages, longer breaks and other benefits.
According to Reuters, the company will alert shoppers to the upcoming closures through in-store signage, as the actual closing dates may vary by location.
It also said it was working to find new roles for employees impacted, when possible, or offer them severance.
