Thabo Molefe aka ‘Tbo Touch’ is coming back to SABC’s Metro FM. According to Mzanzi’s Sunday newspapers, the controversial radio presenter is making his way back to Auckland Park to continue where he left off.
According to the Sunday World, Touch is going back to his previous afternoon slot. Metro FM is yet to make an official statement about Touch’s triumphant return to the gravy train called SABC radio.
The newspaper reports, “Touch had initially wanted R1-million salary per month but Madoda told him there was no way in hell they could afford to pay him such an amount. They then settled at R480 000 per month,” said the source. Another source confirmed his unexpected return to Metro FM. “Madoda has been chasing after Touch’s signature for almost a year now.
Sunday World noted “Touch agreed to go back to the station on condition that he gets his afternoon drive show back and the SABC obliged. They settled on R480 000 salary per month. “Touch is not only going to host his show there, but as part of his agreement, he would also go and find advertisers and sponsors for his show and for the station. That is why R30 000 of that package is for a car allowance,” he said.

Three years ago, Touch, Robert Marawa, DJ Sbu and DJ Fresh appeared on CliffCentral.com’s ‘PURE CONVERSATIONS’ with Gareth Cliff to talk about the ill-treatment and tyranny they faced while working at the state broadcaster.
All of them they made vowed that they will never go back and work for SABC.
Three years later ‘Touch’ is making a comeback to the same radio station he was complaining about, what a turn of events. Touch is leaving behind TOUCH HD, the radio station he started after he left SABC a couple of years ago.
In the previous media interviews, Touch was asked about Touch HD’s lack of success, he cited that South Africa is not ready for online streaming radio, because data is expensive and advertisers don’t want to put money on streaming radio stations.
On the other hand, CliffCentral and Massiv Metro are both online streaming radio platforms and Gareth Cliff is on every morning from 6-8 am Monday to Friday on CliffCentral.com. They seem like they’re getting it right since they have been in business for almost 8 years.
