Naomi Osaka launches her own Sports agency after IMG exit

Naomi Osaka Tennis sensation and star has launched Evolve her own sports agency to look after her business affairs and sponsorship deals.

The launch of Osaka’s agency comes after she exited her relationship with Endeavor-owned IMG after her contract expired with the company. The move makes Osaka the first woman to launch her own sports agency. She follows the footsteps of LeBron James, Rory McIlroy and Kevin Durant.

Endeavor also refused and was unwilling to honour Okasa’s request to be more flexible with her partnerships. The tennis star started Evolve in partnership with her agent Stuart Duguid who also left IMG.

Osaka is one of the well-paid sports female athletes in the world with $53.2 million and it makes a damn good sense to start her own sports agency. To date, her portfolio includes Workday, Tag Heuer, Nikes, FTX, Beats By Dr Dre, Modern Health, Autograph, StatusPro, Mastercard, Panasonic and Louis Vuitton.

“Evolve is the natural next step in my journey as both an athlete and businesswoman, as well as a way to continue being myself and doing things my way,” said Osaka.

“I’m excited to start this with my business partner Stuart and our plan is to use the same approach we took in building my businesses authentically and strategically as a vision for this company. I strongly believe in the power athletes have to use our platforms to drive meaningful business.”

“The core of Evolve is building Naomi’s business from US$50 million a year to $150 million a year,” Duguid said.
