US lawmakers introduces a bill to ban TikTok in the United States of America

A bipartisan group of lawmakers have introduced a bill that would ban TikTok in the United States.

For several years, US lawmakers have raised concerns about the Chinese government gaining access to American users’ data through TikTok’s parent company ByteDance. The Trump administration sought to ban the video-sharing app in 2020, but their attempt was crushed in court.

The proposed bill, led by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, would “block and prohibit” all transactions from any social media company in or under the influence of China and Russia. “There is no more time to waste on meaningless negotiations with a CCP-puppet company. It is time to ban Beijing-controlled TikTok for good,” Rubio said in a statement.
