Electricity Minister Sputla is getting his hands dirty to fix power issues

Almost two weeks into the new job, Sputla Ramokgopa is out and about trying to resolve the power crisis in the country.

Ramokgopa visited one of the ailing power stations, Kusile Power Station in Mpumalanga.

While on site speaking to the media Sputla said, “We will move from the 25% energy availability factor, to 70% and make sure we have sufficient units operating to carry us through the winter.”

Ramokgopa said his plan to visit all power stations that were performing poorly was to establish measures to increase their energy availability factor.

The minister is currently on tour visiting most of the power stations to try to improve the efficiency of the power stations.

Thursday is day three of his tour to power stations, and he is expected to give a comprehensive review of what he saw, thus far.

We are yet to see the improvement of electricity in the country since Sputla took office as the the new Minister of Electricity.
