Man City’s Erling Haaland becomes playable character in Clash of Clans

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has been announced as a new playable character in the Clash of Clans mobile strategy video game. The Norwegian and Manchester City soccer star’s character is the first in the mobile game to be based on a real person.

  • Haaland features as an animated character called ‘the Barbarian King’
  • Norwegian striker’s character will be available from 1st to 31st May

Released in 2012 and developed by Finnish-based Supercell, Clash of Clans is a free-to-play mobile strategy game that has been downloaded more than two billion times. Haaland is no stranger to being the face of a video game, having been the cover star of EA Sports’ soccer simulator EA FC 24 , formerly known as Fifa. 

“When we heard Haaland was a fan of our game and that he wanted to partner with us, it was really a dream scenario,” said Stuart McGaw, general manager of Clash of Clans. “Our team did everything we could to bring him, one of the world’s best athletes, into the world of the game so our players could enjoy a truly special moment.”
