SAFI sends condolences to the ANC as their ally, the Iranian regime, collapses, while South Africans celebrate the liberation of the Iranian people

The South African Friends of Israel (SAFI) expresses sincere condolences to the ANC as the world observes the ongoing collapse of their ally, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

SAFI appreciates that this will be a trying time for the ANC, especially if the allegations are true that the Iranian regime financially sponsored the ANC for the 2024 elections in exchange for taking Israel to the ICJ on a flimsy and baseless allegation of genocide. We trust that the ANC will perhaps find more ethical means of fundraising for their upcoming local government elections campaign.

“It remains nonetheless perplexing that the ANC, a political leader in a democratic, constitutional and a free South Africa remains allied to a genocidal, theocratic, and unstable dictatorship that has eroded basic human rights of its citizens, says Bafana Modise, spokesperson for SAFI.

SAFI nonetheless welcomes the ongoing collapse of this regime and the liberation of the Iranian people who have been inhumanely and violently oppressed for over four decades.

Additionally, the regime has also been an open sponsor of terrorist groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis. The tentacles of Iran’s terror across the Middle East and the world have been decimated.

The ongoing fall of the Iranian regime comes after a surprise and masterfully tactical military operation launched by Israel in the last week on various Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure to prevent the country from successful completion of building mass nuclear weapons. This was a necessary action, as Iran has consistently promised death to much of the West and Israel. As Canadian politician Pierre Poilievre has articulated, for Iran to “develop nuclear weapons is about the most dangerous and irresponsible thing that the world could allow.”  This was similarly echoed by the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen that “Iran should never, never acquire nuclear weapons.”

Modise added that “the Iranian people have the most to gain from the regime’s potential collapse as early indications suggest that Iran could now be on the pathway to a free democratic country once again, with the exiled Crown Prince of Iran, Reza Pahlavi promising a transitional arrangement that will establish a national and democratic government by and for the Iranian people, reviving Iran to its pre-1979 glory and peaceful self. These developments should be welcomed by every democratic-loving South African.”

Most notably, at least 50-60 percent of the Iranian population support Israel, united in their mutual opposition to the Iranian regime. SAFI looks forward to a new friendship between Israel and a democratic and peace-loving Iran.

“SAFI further commends the DA’s spokesperson on International Relations, Emma Powell for exposing the selective outrage by the South African Department of International Relations for completely ignoring the IAEA’s declaration of non-compliance by Iran with its nuclear non-proliferation obligations – another clear indication that Iran was fast-tracked to acquire destructive nuclear weapons. The world owes unconditional gratitude to Israel for halting this from becoming a reality,” Modise commented.

“Lastly, tomorrow, June 19th will commemorate the 23rd of Sivan, the day Mordechai issued a royal decree empowering the Jews to defend themselves from a Persian decree to destroy all Jews, marking a turning point in the story of Esther and the survival of her people, as articulated in the book of Esther. Considering that Iran is present day Persia, the world is experiencing a clear manifestation of the biblical promise to Abraham that God will curse those who curse you and bless those that bless you,” Modise concluded.

We are living in biblical times and stand in prayer for God’s blessing and miracles.
