DiDi Transport Sharing Platform is Coming to Pretoria and Jo’burg

Chinese ride-hailing service DiDi plan to expand its operations in some part of the country, their next stop is Johannesburg and the capital Pretoria.

Speaking at the recent media event Ken Liu, SA launch lead for DiDi, said the company see the need to take the brand across South African major cities.

Safety for drivers and rider is a number on priority for the e-hailing platform.

“Our value proposition for our operation in South Africa is safety. For the drivers’ side it’s safety and better earnings, and on the riders’ side, it’s safety and affordability,” Lui said.

Their app boasts following safety features facial recognition, share trip with contacts, SOS button linked to the police, smart geofencing for drivers to opt-out of servicing unsafe areas and unmatch from riders for drivers and unmatch from drivers for riders.

DiDi was founded in 2012, at the moment the company is focusing on the emerging economies across the world, outside of China such as South Africa, Australia, Russia, Japan, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
