Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium to be Demolished for new upgrades

Manchester United plans to demolish the Old Trafford stadium as they plan to upgrade their iconic home ground.

According to the UK news reports suggest the Premier League side is considering a few options, expansion upgrade on the South stand OR further option is the renovation of all four stands within the current construction that could increase capacity.

Another option for United is to build a new academy stadium next to the main ground, which is possible due to the expansive amount of land owned by the club around Old Trafford. United is trying to copy and mirror their fellow Manchester rivals Man City with their Etihad Campus.

United’s chief operating officer Collette Roche said, “We have been assessing the capabilities of globally-leading consultants who want to help us develop a masterplan for the modernisation of Old Trafford, with the ultimate aim of improving the matchday experience for fans. We have met with companies across a range of disciplines, including architecture, engineering, construction, crowd modelling, transport, security and many more.”

Here's Why Manchester United Stadium Is Called Old Trafford

“We are hoping to appoint our preferred partners in the coming weeks; following this, we will be able to formally kick-off phase one of the project, which will be focused on establishing the vision and objectives for the masterplan,” Roche adds.

The jury is still out, where United would play matches while Old Trafford was undergoing any significant redevelopment, only time will tell.
