Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo to sponsor Uefa Champions League on a two years deal. The smartphone company hopes to leverage the European football market to grow into a global brand.
Oppo has become the first Chinese brans to get in bed with Uefa Champions League. The brand is trying to move away from its traditional core markets and grow beyond its borders.
As part of the deal, the Oppo brand will appear on perimeter advertising, broadcast backdrops, and Uefa’s official digital channels, while a central theme of the partnership will be the use of the company’s technology to record the fan experience.
“We are delighted to welcome Oppo to the Uefa sponsor family with the world’s greatest club competition – the Uefa Champions League,” said Guy-Laurent Epstein, Uefa’s marketing director.

This is not the first time the brand has partnered with a football entity. In South Africa, Oppo is an official mobile partner of Orlando Pirates.
