The University of Cape Town [UCT] has awarded Kaizer Chiefs founder and Chairman Kaizer Motaung with an Honorary Doctorate, from now on you are welcome to address him as Dr Motaung.
This has been a long-time coming for Dr Motaung, one of the deserving candidates given the amount of work he has done in the country. Today, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest football teams in Africa and the world.
Dr Motaung has expressed his feelings about receiving the doctorate from UCT and what it means to him and his family.
“It was a memorable day in my life because it is a recognition by other people for the role I played with the help of others in football and this colossal brand that is Kaizer Chiefs. I’ll always treasure the day,” Dr Kaizer Motaung.
“It is (was) a great day for South African football and Kaizer Chiefs in particular. And of course my family.”
“I feel greatly humbled and honoured for this doctorate by the University of Cape Town because people have fully applied their minds and believe I’m fully deserving of this honour.”
